At the end of a year we tend to take stock of what has happened. And, in our case, it can be summarized in three words: Gratitude, Hope and Transformation.
We look back with immense gratitude. It was a year where, for the first time, we were able to serve, through our hospital ship, the Global Mercy, from one port, two nations: Senegal and Gambia. And, months later, begin our humanitarian mission in Sierra Leone. Thousands of people saw their lives transformed and we were able to train more than 1,200 local health professionals.
Furthermore, our hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, was able to be renovated and equipped to extend its service life, and begin training health professionals in South Africa.
On behalf of all of us at Naves de Esperanza β collaborators, volunteers and patients β thank you for your support every step of the way.
We look forward with hope to a brighter 2024. Our hospital ship, the Global Mercy, will continue its humanitarian work in Sierra Leone. And the Africa Mercy will begin its mission to bring health and hope to Madagascar. With these perspectives on the horizon, we are aware that the future will hold many reasons for us to celebrate. Nations will see their health systems strengthened and transformed. We look forward to restoring hope, transforming lives, and sharing all of these milestones and more with you in 2024.
Thank you for being part of this journey and sharing your time, talents and resources with us this year. This work would not be possible without your support!
We want to share with you the video that summarizes what we have been able to do with your help in 2023.
